Paris City Guide

Are you planning a trip to Paris? If so, then you should know the best places to visit while you're there. While Paris is known as "The City of Love," you can still enjoy the many sites whether or not you're in love while there. But which places should you visit while in Paris?

Without a doubt, the Eiffel Tower is a must-see tourist spot in Paris. In fact, the structure is so renowned that that it has appeared in several works of fiction. That includes books, TV, films, and video games. Essentially, the Eiffel Tower has become a symbol of Paris itself! The Eiffel Tower was designed by Gustave Eiffel and was originally constructed for the 1889 World Fair. Gustave used innovative technology that had already become popular in buildings with iron frames.

The Arc de Triomphe is another tourist spot that you absolutely, positively must see during a trip to Paris. Although it's older and shorter than the Eiffel Tower, its symbolism is arguably greater than the Eiffel Tower's. That's because the ground that the Arc de Triomphe stands atop, is arguably the most significant land in secular France. The Arc contains the tomb of France's Unknown Soldier, is where French troops paraded at the conclusion of World War I, and is where a flame is lit every night.

The Cathedrale Notre-Dame is yet another tourist spot that you should visit while in Paris. It was conditioned in 1160, and was constructed from 1163 to 1334. The cost of the cathedral was huge, due to the increasing reputation of Paris. Throughout its history, the Cathedrale Notre-Dame has undergone much renovation, including the middle of the 1800s--when the structure underwent major restoration. Restoring has been ongoing since then. The west front portion of the cathedral is the highlight of Gothic art. Finally, no visit to the Cathedrale Notre-Dame is complete without climbing the structure's towers.

The Louvre is yet another location that you should consider visiting while in Paris. Did you know that the Louvre is the largest museum in the entire world? The structure contains a maze of galleries and passageways. Besides the artwork that has made the Louvre world-renowned, the structure itself is a fascinating work-of-art. In fact, the Louvre is constantly being altered and added to, signifying the mobility of Paris.

Finally, the Sacre-Coeur is yet another hot tourist spot in Paris. Work on this imitation Romano-Byzantine structure started in 1877, and was commissioned in 1870. The Sacre-Coeur's construction was finished in 1914, while it was consecrated five years later. The inside of the structure contains several prolific mosaics.

These are some of the major tourist spots in Paris. You'll fall in love with City of Love if you include them on your itinerary!
